The Islamic State for Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, that has controlled Mosul, Tiqrit and al-Anbar provinces since June 11, has issued its official passport after declaring an Islamic caliphate last week.

The passport, issued in Mosul, displays symbols on the militant organization’s flag and the phrase of “Caliphate Islamic State” at the top of the passport.

ISIL allowed Iraqi civil servants in Mosul’s birth registration office to start working at the begining of this week. The office will deliver 11,000 passports available to Iraqis, who have lived in the ISIL-held regions, as a first step. The militant organization will also launch a new project to issue its identity card, called “jinsiya”, starting next week.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, declared “the caliph” by the militant group, called on all Muslim believers, particularly doctors, engineers and judges, all over the world, to immigrate to the Islamic state.
